Hyperlink to specific worksheet in XL

I need to link to a specific worksheet in an excel document from
powerpoint. There will be around 30 different worksheets linked from
several slides in the presentation, and I'd like to keep them all in a
single spreadsheet, instead of having 30 different documents.

Can this be done? I thought there was a way, but haven't been able to
figure it out yet. Note - this needs to work cross-platform (VBA is
out), and possibly needs to work with version 2003 (I am currently
using 2007).

Ok, now I'm really getting pissed at Microsoft. I found how to get
this to work. Setting the link to this:

ExcelFileName.xls#'WorksheetName'!A1

....will get it to open the excel document to the specified worksheet
on cell A1. BUT this does NOT work cross-platform on a Mac! WTF,
Microsoft? You can't even get your own programs to work consistently
with each other?

Am I missing something, because I can't seem to get this to work at
all. This is causing me major problems with this project I am working
on. My client does not want to send out 30 different linked Excel
documents, and I'm not very happy with providing a solution that does
not work properly for all of their users, although that is beginning
to look like what they are going to have to accept.
