Hi Folks,
Im in a world of big dog dodo. I have to replace a
motherboard in a PC and have it ready for tomorrow,......or else! I want to
avoid reinstalling Windows2000 completely if possible......is there any way
of installing the existing hard disk and retaining the old settings without
reconfiguring everything. If I copy Documents and settings is that all I
need?

Also, everytime I open a new window in explorer, my dial-up connection pops
up. How do I stop this irritation.

Greetings --

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll most likely need
to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the
very least (and don't forget to reinstall any service packs and
subsequent hot fixes):
