Changeing cell color, adding new cells, excel crashes

When ever I try to change a font color, or a cell color or add cells, etc.
Excel crashes, I am using excel 2003 proffesional, how do I correct this
problem?

Is it one particular workbook or any?

If it is a single book then I suspect the 'normal' style is becoming corrupt
and I would copy everything out to a new book, after taking a few copies.

If it is Excel generally, I would try these things in order, closing and
starting Excel each time.

1) Uncheck all add-ins from Tools>Add-ins and if this stops it then add back
one at a time until the issue returns

2) Take your *.xlb file (toolbar customisation, it may be hidden) and move
it from it's location. Excel will create a new one

3) Remove any files from your xlStart folder (personal.xls, book.xlt,
sheet.xlt, etc) and if this fixes it, place back one at a time to see when
the issue returns.

4) Run detect and repair under the help menu

This is in all excel workbooks, even new ones. None of my add-in are checked,
and there are no files in the xlstart folder, additionaly I cannot find the
xlb file wich leads me to belive that there isnt one. I have run the detect
and repair, and also reintalled excel.

I did state the *.xlb file may be hidden! You will have one...If Excel can't
find it on start-up it creates a new one

Hmm I have looked in all the locations I can think of including hidden files,
as well as done a search, and I still cannot find the .xlb file. Could you
possibly point me in its direction?

Mine is at...it is hidden and called Excel11.xlb (After my version...11 or
