The best procedure for you is to get someone who knows what they're doing to
help you or do it for you.

Greetings --

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll most likely need
to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the
very least (and don't forget to reinstall any service packs and
subsequent hot fixes):

True, but if you want to learn it yourself, visit:

It tells you how to build a PC, which you will need to know if you
want to mess around with a new motherboard. Drop us an email if
youhave another question.

What's always worked for me has been:

Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers

Select Bus Master IDE Controller, right-click > Properties > Driver tab >
Update driver > Next > "Display a list of the known drivers..." > Next and
change to "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE controller". OK your way out, shut
down, swap mobos, bring up, repeat the procedure to let it find the better
drivers.

There is a more detailed website going through all this, but I can't give
the url right now.

HTH.

Have a duplicate motherboard on hand as a spare.
