XP-SP2. My icons for jpeg images on my desktop has changed. How do I change
the icon back? I don't have a choice by right-clicking the image file.
Thanks, Steve T.

Right click the image file click properties

Click change button
Highlight the Microsoft picture and fax viewer
Put a check mark in "Always use the selected program to open this kind of
file"
Then click "Apply" and "Ok".

This should take care of your problem.

Are you really talking about changing the icon or the program to open
..jpg files? To change the program that opens these files, right-click on
one of them and choose "Open With". You'll see where you can click on
"Choose Program" so do that. Then choose the program you want to use and
put a check in the box that says "always open with this program".

Changing the icon. For some reason it changed and I cannot get it back to
what it was. I am aware of how to do what you are saying Malke. Steve T.

You probably have a different program opening jpegs. Do you know what
program previously opened them? Perhaps it was the "Windows Picture and
Fax Viewer". If so, right-click a jpg, click Open With, click "Choose
Program", select the viewer, and click "Always use this program to open
this type of file".

Windows Picture and Fax Viewer has always been the program I associated to
open jpeg's. It still does by default. I just cannot change the icon for a
jpeg, as it appears on my desktop; back to what it was. I'm not having any
problems opening any jpeg image. Steve T.
