Change default options for CDs

M

Michael Moser

I have disabled AutoPlay for CDs (and other devices) for security
reasons (and because I normally want to see what is on that CD first
before executing anything).

However, the default command for CDs is still AutoPlay and very often -
when I don't think about it - I double click onto a CD intending to open
an explorer window just to notice that I again just started the autorun
command.

I checked under Tools => Folder Options => File Types. But I only found
Audio CDs there (where the default is "Play" which is OK). But how can I
change the default for Non-Audio CDs? I didn't find any "file type" that
seemed to match...

You're looking in the wrong place. In the start menu open My Computer then
after the window has opened, right click on your CD/DVD drive and select
properties. In the properties window click on the Auto Play tab, then in
the drop-down menu you can select the various cd types and the specify the
actions it should do.
