Change Default Location For RDP files?

G

Guest

Using remote desktop, the default location for RDP files is My Documents. We
have a central location on the network with all the RDP files for our
customers. How do I change the default location that comes up when you go to
open an existing RDP file?

Thanks

Yes... You simply need to modify the shortcut path to the new location...

Al,

Thanks for the reply, but I don't understand. When I start Remote Desktop
and click on the "Options >>" button, the window exapnds showing the MRU
Computer drop-down list, User name, Password, Domain and a "Connection
settings" box. The "Connection settings" box has two buttons "Save As..."
and "Open". When I click on Open, the directory is always My Documents. I
want to change this default directory to another directory. If I change
"Start In" (right-click the Remote Desktop shortcut, click Properties, change
the "Start In" path), it has no effect. The Open button always takes me to
My Documents.

Oh, I see... I really don't know if you can change that default other than
to use "Save As" and manually specify the new folder... I'll poke around a
bit and see if it can be changed, just no guarantees that I will be
successful...:)

Thanks agian Al. There just HAS to be a way to do this. I even went poking
through the registry looking for configurable settings for Remote Desktop,
but there's not much there.

FWIW, I have noticed that when I bring up RD, if I hit the Open button, then
navigate to another folder, for the rest of that RD session, it will keep the
selected folder as the current one.
