CH Products gameport/USB combo and FS9 questions.

Dewey

Hi guys/gals,

I realize this is a popular topic, however all the threads I could retrieve on the subject aren't really answering my question(s).

Anyway, here goes.

I just purchased a CH Products flight yoke (USB).

I already have the gameport models of the CH Products Pro Pedals & Pro Throttle.

I would like to use my 4 year old CH Pro pedals with my new CH USB flight yoke, (as new USB pedals cost too much >$150 cdn).

BTW...I'm not going to use my Pro throttle as my new yoke has all three levers, (Anyone looking for a CH Pro Throttle? ...I live in central Canada)

The CH website seems to harp on *NOT* mixing their USB and gameport devices. Is this just a ploy to get us flight sim enthusiasts to buy all new CH Products USB equipment?

Is it simply a matter of plugging my pedals into my existing gameport (on a Audigy sound card) and plugging my yoke into a USB port?

or...

Do I have to get a USB/gameport adapter/converter to use my gameport Pro pedals in a USB port?

The sims I have in mind are FS9, MS combatsim 2/3, Nascar racing.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dewey

Hi Dewey,

You're asking excellent questions. Update your sound card drivers
and plug the game port device into the gameport socket. Likewise
install and connect your USB device. Test them in the game and let
us know how it works out. You have us at a disadvantage since it
seems nobody here owns the equipment you have. Keep us posted!

Good luck Dewey, and don't be afraid to experiment.

The sims I have in mind are FS9, MS combatsim 2/3, Nascar racing.

Although not quite the same setup as yours, I use my USB
Saitek X45 stick/throttle alond with my analog CH pedals.

I plug the pedals and an old stick into my gameport and
XP Pro sees them just fine. In game, it's just a matter
of mapping the right axis.

I use them in FS9 and Aces High with no problems.

I suspect all you need to do is insure you have installed
the necessary drivers and go through the setup and calibrtation
procedures.
