CDRW Burning in Windows XP Pro

D

Dennis

I have to computers. A laptop and a desktop both with hi
speed cd burners. I need to be able to use the cd burning
in windows xp pro on both of these machines. Every time I
try to save a file to a cdrw it does not work. (Incorrect
function) error. I can copy the file to the cdr or cdrw
but windows always makes the file Read only. I need to be
able to work with this file while it is on the disc and
save it back to the disc with the same file name and also
bring it up on the other machine and do the same thing. Is
this possible without 3rd party software? Thanks.

Not possible without third party software. XP's built in cd burning does not
do packet writing(make a cd act like a giant floppy disk), which is what you
want/need. Roxio and Nero are the two most popular that do packet writing.
