Burning cdr/cdrw in Windows XP Home question

Q1-- Hi, if I burn a few files (total about 10 MB) into a 700MB CDR
disk using the WinXP Home built-in burning capability (highlight
the files, send to cdr writer) what happen to the balance 690 MB in
the cdr disk?

Can I later burn another 100 MB data on same disk?

Q2 -- what if I use a cdrw disk. Can I "format" off the old data
and reburn new data? Can i add on new data to existing data on the
cdrw disk?

Thanks

Yes, but know that each session burned to the disk has about a 14MB
overhead, so not very efficient, and if you add a file with the same
file name as previously recorded only the latter one is seen, and the
space used by the first is not reclaimed.

Yes, CD-RW can be used again. Essentially CD-RW are treated just like
CD-R with XP's built in software. If you want to use a CD-RW like
another floppy disk or hard drive to add/delete files as you go, then a
third party software program is needed like Roxio easy media Creator 7
or Nero.
