cdrom cdrw failure

i have a cd rom +cdrw which had been working fine but now
they are not operating at all .i tried reinstalling
through add hardware ,which detects the devices but has
error message "windows cannot start this hardware device
because its configuration information (in the registry) is
incomplete or damaged.(code 19)",please help
..

Rt click MyComputer>select Prop>Hardware>Device Manager. See if there
is any yellow marks next to the drives.
If yes, remove or uninstall them from there and let WinXP reinstall
them.

I did reinstall and it still has the yellow mark and wont
read my device drivers ???
