I have an HP Pavilion 7965 w/ a cdr and dvd. WinXP has
lost the ability to load them. Device mgr gives this
message "Windows cannot start this hardware device
because its configuration information (in the registry)
is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" Both are seen in
bios and test fine w/microscope diags. Short of reloading
the OS, anybody have suggestions?

Hi, had the same problem on my computer, but I found a
workaround in a previous Windows article. You may find it
in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;270008 .Rgds Maz
