CD Writer and Music CDs

M

mladner

I am having problems with my CD Writer. I have a HP 9300i CD Writer. It can Auto-play PC games after about a minute. It used to play music CDs and auto-play with Windows Media Player10. My nephew download Nero on my system and I took it off. It will no longer play music CDs. Also, inside Windows Explorer, nothing will show under the drive when I have a music CD in the unit.

Thank you;
David

Hello,

Please check if autoplay is enabled or not. NERO usually disable the
autoplay features and you can enable that by doing:

Go to CD ROM DRIVE and right click mouse go to PROPERTIES > AUTOPLAY. Enable
the settings again also try to update the driver for your HP 9300i CD
Writer.

IF the above doesn't work then please do the following:

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

1. Click Start, click Run and type REGEDIT in the Open box. Click OK.
2. Find the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSettings\Services\CDROM

3. Choose the registry and see if a value named AutoRun exists.
4. If yes, modify the value to 0; otherwise, let us add the value.
5. Right-click in the right pane and choose New | DWORD value.
6. Name the value AutoRun and set its value to 1.
7. Close Registry Editor and then restart the computer.
