cd will not recognize

I am having a problem with what seems to be a very simple solution but I
can't figure it out. I am running XP Home on a Dell Inspiron 8200 with a
Toshiba DVD-ROM. That being said, my brother copied some media files onto a
cd that he burned from his Mac which refuses to open on my PC at all. Now I
thought that there might be some problem because of the difference between
Mac's software and my PC's software, but when I try it on my wife's PC which
is also running XP Home all the files show up and I can use them on hers. I
tried downloading a couple of freeware audio programs hopeing that their
software would change something but they did not do anything. Does anyone
have any suggestions?

Compare the setup of the two PCs of whatever app you are using
to play the music files. One may have it as a default and the other not.
