CD/RW-DVD/RW

I am unable to record in either drive unless I change the transfer mode to
PIO only in the IDE Advanced settings.But when I do this playback is
inconsistent.I am running XP Home.Any suggestions?

You have a hardware problem somewhere. XP reverts to PIO when the error
rate in DMA mode is excessive.
You should run the motherboard hardware diagnostics for your computer.

I replaced cables,got rid of my CD/RW.I finally changed my bios settings to optimized and everything works GREAT! Thanks
