cd rom won't work

I cannot run programs, audio discs, dvd's....NOTHING from
my computer noe. WHat can I do? I can't get on the
internet or install any software at all. HELP, PLEASE!!

Hi,

most probably reasons are

cd rom drive is not fixed properly to the system.
cd rom lens is defective.
cd rom drive is not a plug and play device and is not installed properly.

get the cd rom drive checked by a hardware specialist and see if another cd rom drive will work on ur system. that will help u narrow down the reason for the error.

ok try restarting the system and pressing the f8 key each second. then when
the options pop up start it in safe mode from there you can log on, reinstall
drivers, change forgotten passwords as an administrator, and some other
stuff. it's pretty self-explanatory. let me know how it goes or if you need
some help. oh and make sure you press f8 before windows loads, you know when
the screen is still black.ok!
