CD-rom problems?

Does anyone of you know how to fix problem with CD-rom in XP Home.
My cd-rom works fine if the cd is in the drive before I restart or boot up.
But as soon as I change a cd, the explorer can not
see it and it acts as if nothing is on the cd. I have gotten it to work in
safe mode but have not figured out what software is causing this.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
I'm Running XP Home, Norton Antivirus, Internet Security.
I have disabled all of Norton and problem still exist.
Any ideas on debugging without removing all software on system?

I have the EXACT same problem. It happened after I installed Norton Antivirus, 2004 PRO. I can read a CD that is in the drive after I first boot, but once I change CDs I cannot read them. Unfortunately, the only way I can get it to work is to uninstall Norton. I THINK the problem may be related to a conflict between NAV and Roxio Easy CD Creator, Zone Alrm, or Nero In-CD. But I am not smart enough to fix it. I also have not seen our particular problem on any of the knowledge bases. I'll keep you informed if I find out anything (I have sent multiple e-mails to Symantec). Please do the same for me. Thanks
Mark
