cd-rom error preventing windows reinstall.. help!

Ok here situation,
dvd-rom and cdrw have errors (attempting to fix gf comp.), uninstalling and
detecting new hardware just reinstates errorred drives instead of
reinstalling. Already tried repairing windows by copying xp setup file onto
hard drive, but to no avail... though did get device manager working
(mmx.exe i believe was the missing file). So now i've got windows working,
but no way to get cd-roms working or reinstalling windows (SONY CRX140E and
DVDROM 1 0X are roms). Any help please post or send e-mail to
(e-mail address removed) .

Hi r hays,

What are the errors for the DVD and CDRW?

Have a look at this MSKB article, "CD-ROM Access Is Missing and Messages
Cite Error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19, or Code 39 After You Remove Easy CD
Creator in Windows XP", to see if it fits your situation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
Please don't let the "After You Remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP"
dissuade you from having a look at the article, as those error messages
occur under situations not involving Easy CD Creator.

Regards,
