I have used Original CD Emulator (OCDE), Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel
2.0.1.1 (VCRCP) and All Image to try to create a virtual CD-ROM drive.
All to no avail. I have spent hours upon hours without success. I
have an older Sony and an new Plextor DVD-ROM drive.
With OCDE and VCRCP, I can read and write images from and to my DVD-ROM
drives. Not with All Image -- it "sees" all my drives ... except the
two ROMs.
I can rip and burn music from and to the drives. But not create a
virtual CD-ROM drive. In OCDE, the drive icon that is supposed to show
up, the one onto which you drag, for instance, an ISO file, never shows
up.
I have come to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with
my Windows settings (although it is only an unitelligent guess). I do
not know if, when creating a virtual drive, the emulators must "see" a
real drive. If that is the case, perhaps they do not see the drives in
the way they need for emulation.
I am at my wits' end. I cannot find any solutions on the net, neither
any discussion lists of substance on the matter, and I therefore ask if
anyone here has any clue as to what can be wrong.
I have XP Home and a Dell Dim TPS T700r, and the DVD-ROM drives are
Sony DRU-500AX and Plextor DVDR PX-740A.
