CD ROM drive

After a crash while installing a printer, my CD ROM drive
no longer works. When I try to uninstall it using either
Uninstall in Device Manager or Add/Remove Hardware, I get a
message that says that Windows Installer cannot load the
device driver. I've checked for hardware conflicts, and
there don't seem to be any. The CD drive works when I
include it as a part of the boot sequence, and load my
Windows 2000 disk. Once Windows actually opens, the CD
drive is not available. It appears in Device Manager with
a yellow exclamation mark. Any suggestions on how to make
this work?

What is the actual error for the CDROM in Device Manager? You might want
to try uninstalling it in safe mode.
