CD-rom drive is missing

My CD-rom drive has vanished from my laptop (no where to
be seen)

Found this message in my event viewer:

The device 'MATSHITA UJDA710'
(IDE\CdRomMATSHITA_UJDA710________________________1.50____
\5&351fc29b&0&0.0.0) disappeared from the system without
first being prepared for removal.

Any ideas?

Loose connection etc

This has happened before, I dismantled my laptop, cleared
some dust from the cd-rom area and it magically
reappeared but this hasn't worked this time.

Any help would be much apreciated

And now it's mysteriously gone again
Worked once then vanished again.

Any ideas why this has happened again?
