Cd Rom Drive is missing

I doesn't show up in My Computer or in Device Manager. Could my motherboard
be corrupt?How do I get it back. I can't use my CD to see if I can repair it
because my CD rom is missing

Try this: download fron here Tweak UI (be careful for not choosing
Itanium version):

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

and install it. When done, go to Start > All programs > Powertoys for
Windows XP > Tweak UI and lauch it. Go to "My computer" section and then
to "Drives" and see if yor drive is unchecked. If so, check it.
