CD-Rom drive has disappeared

I have Windows 2000 Pro.

I have done what it said to do here:

I have talked to ThatComputerGuy.com on the phone.

I can play a music CD with Windows Media Player.

Can anyone help me?

Did you go to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article to which the Roxio link
referred? There are two methods for restoring your CD ROM listed in the
Microsoft article. You've tried the first.

I really appreciate your response.
I have Windows Media Player Version 9, and it doesn't
mention anything but Version 7, so I didn't do anything
with Window Media Player yet.
