CD R/RW keeps disappearing

My CD R/RW keeps disappearing and this is causing probs with the whole computer. Its not running smoothly, mouse jumps etc. Have been to error log and this displays the following
The device 'IDE-CD R/RW 12x8x32' (IDE\CdRomIDE-CD_R/RW_12x8x32_ ____________________N3.8____\5 635344f34314436305136363732202 0_0_0_0_0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal

Any suggestions?

Download and install a tiny patch from the following URL to delete
upper and lower filters from the Windows registry:
