CD DVD ROM Error

After Installing Windows XP Home I was able to use my DVD
ROM to install other driver requirements, however in
Device Manager the DVD/CD ROM Prodi=uct NEC DV-5700A now
has a small yellow circle over it with a red exclamation
mark inside and the DVD/CD ROM will not run when a Disc is
inserted and the drive closed.
What happened?

How do I fix it?

How would I do this. I have the Microsoft response
re:Remove the Registry Entry. Is this the same thing?

What does that little yellow icon I referred to mean?
