CD drive stays running after startup

I'm running Windows XP and my main CD drive (I also have a DVD writer)
continues to run after XP has booted. At least the light is on. If I open
and close the drive the light goes out. Also, if I put a CD in the drive
(any CD seems to work) the system will check the drive at bootup and then the
light goes out.

How can I find out what is trying to access the CD and what can I do about
stopping it.

thanks...Larry N.

Hi Larry,

Check the boot order in the BIOS setup and make sure that HD-0 is
first.
