CD drive not found when upgrading?

I am trying to upgrade from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Prof., and when
the PC reboots after choosing the Upgrade install option, it shows that the
Windows Install starts, but then it comes up and states that it cannot find
any CD-ROM drives installed.

I have two of them connected and installed. I used one of them to start the
upgrade, but after the reboot, Windows Setup program doesn't see them.

Any ideas on what's causing this or how to get Windows Setup to see the CD
drives?

What technology are the Optical drives ? It sounds like the setup is
not loading drivers to be able to mount/use the drives. I assume this
upgrade is on the same hardware and no hardware changes are part
of the process. You may need to provide drivers for your controller
in the 1st phase of the upgrade at reboot. Also is your Pro disk at
or above the Service Pack level of the existing XP Home ?

They are IDE drives. No hardware changed at all. This is all the same
hardware. I am only trying to upgrade the OS. I slipstreamed the XP Prof.
CD I have to include SP3. The XP Home version currently installed has SP2.

Thanks for the follow up info. Everything seems correct. About
the only suggestion I can think of is put the XP Pro CD in the
other optical drive and reboot. Otherwise copy the entire CD
to your drive and start the upgrade from there ( Setup.Exe )

That worked, copying it to the HD and then starting the upgrade from there.
