microstar laptop.
I have a Microstar laptop . Trying to reinstall XP Professional. It boots
from the CD and loads the files, Next setup is starting windows[Problem
now} the computer shuts down, Like turns off. I put a different hard drive
which is professional 2000 which starts up. So I figure I will do a upgrade
to XP Prof., same thing, when it is time to start windows the computer shuts
down. It is Not a heat problem cause I can have the computer running for
hours while it is using the hard drive with 2000 Prof.

So the problem is when setup is starting windows the computer shuts down.
Thanks for any help or where I should post this ????

Is a Stop Error report genaqrated when the system restarts?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure. Check for variants of
the Stop Error message.

There is no stop error, the computer just shuts down,{ after about 5min.}
like if I unplugged it. It never starts up, It just loads the files than
turns off and if I restart it wants to install windows again than shuts down
again. It never gets to where it ask if install, format , repair or nothing.
If I put the hard drive which has 2000 prof {from what computer I don't
know] it starts than if I try to upgrade to xp home or professional it loads
the files than shuts down again.
