Nothing wrong with being a cop, just avoid traffic ones - even other cops hate them!;)

Honorable sentiments Chris, but once you join you will soon realise that you are severely handicapped by the 'PC Brigade' - only poor old ladies who haven't paid their council tax get handcuffed and put away these days

Insurance. I'm an old fart :) I have a big 2.8 litre Mercedes. It's old, but I love it.

Full no claims bonus, fully comp, protected no claims bonus, £375.00 a year. Not so bad.

A career as a Police Officer?

The police, imo, are actually getting better, They've finally woken up to the fact that there are other folk out there other than white folk.

I actually think I would have made a good police officer, kinda fair and all, but a few experiences early in life put me off them forever, a couple of beatings and one complete drugs stitch up.

Mind you, I convinced the magistrate and the the DS got a good rollicking, lol

Also, I was offered stolen goods by some Detectives at their Christmas drink when I worked as a reporter. A Nikon F camera for fifty quid back in the seventies, lol. I declined the offer.

But, like I said, things change. I actually know one policeman, drink with him, but there are some things I will never ever share with him in conversation. He's a copper, always looking for an angle, I don't trust him.

Still, at least he drinks with us 'thieves and commoners' most only socialise with their own. Which is kinda pervy when you think about it.

I dont want to be that kind of cop - i would like to have firearms training, and deal with the real criminals in this world... E.g. the type that shot WPC Sharon Beshenivsky.

Hahahaha! yeah totally

I am of the strong opinion that all officers should carry .45 hand guns... Then if you are having trouble with a suspect just point it at them and tell them to get on the ground and call for backup. Truncheon? Pff. People would be much more scared of the police if they were armed.

Chris, good to see you have a strong drive to be a law enforcement officer , but steady on arming all police ,would`nt that put us in the same boat as the us with their gun crime .

There are mixed opinions - obviously the police officers that were shot were not armed... and they probably would have fought back if armed

However

In the states you can walk into Wal*Mart and buy a gun. You just can't do that here! Our gun crime therefore wouldn't be as bad, but im not saying it wouldn't increase.

I dont know, i think people would fear the police more - if you are going to get a gun as a criminal, your gonna get one. Whether the police choose to or not... well.

If the soft courts in this country dished out real punishments then most of the braindead idiots that wreak havoc on normal people would be locked up. If you have an IQ of 3 on a sunny day , sending you away for a week on St.Lucia or making you attend a months rehab in deepest wales is gonna realise nowt. Treat them the only way they know how .

Watching Costa Del Street Crime on Bravo - the Spanish cops are brilliant. You swear @ a cop, you get a slap in the face then are thrown over the bonnet of the squad car. Thats the way it should be here (though i wouldn't want to dent my shiney new T5 ;) )
