Capturing Video

What kind of capture device works the best with Windows Movie Maker?

I have used the ULeads Movie Factury product along with DVD Epress Cap
Wizard and I have to say I am not impressed. I had all kinds of issues such
as connection timeouts, numerous errors trying to burn a movie that has
already been into the appropriate MPEG format.

I am starting fresh so any advice will be helpful. I know there must be a
"good practice" manual floating around somehwere out there.
