Can't view web page source.

I am running Windows 2000 Pro and have just started having
the problem whereby when I right click on a web page and
select view source from the menu, nothing happens. I have
been into IE options and selected Notepad as my HTML
editor, but this does not solve the problem. If I view a
site on my local machine I can view the web pages HTML
source, but once online, I am unable to do so.

Hope this is clear enough. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

TazDevil,

According to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article, source code may not be
displayed if "there are too many files in the Temporary Internet Files folder or if
Notepad.exe is missing or damaged." In addition, some have posted that this can
happen if you have a shortcut to notepad on your desktop. IIRC, renaming the
shortcut eliminates the problem. For additional information:

KB306907 - Source Code Is Not Displayed When You Click Source on the View Menu in
Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=306907

And if the above does not help, you may want to post in a group where the IE experts
hang out - the microsoft.public.inetexplorer* groups.
