Can't upgrade 98SE to XP

George

I tried following the details provided in another query re
the same issue "Install blocked by shared fax client". I
would get the following after typing any of the lines; Can
not find the file`xxx`(or one of its components)....
The details followed were:

Open up My Computer.
Go to Tools, Folder Options.
Put a check in "Show hidden files and folders".
Click on Start, then Run.
Type in: CMD.
Type in: cd\ , then hit enter
Type in: dir fxsclnt.exe /s
Remember what directory you found the file in.
Type in Exit.
Double click on My Computer.
Right-click on the C: drive and click on Explorer.
Find the directory that housed the fxsclnt.exe.
Delete the file and restart.

Now, you should be able to upgrade to Windows XP.

Copy of my reply to solution given for my earlier posting.

I have tried that procedure.. Please note that I am
running Windows 98 SE, and from "My computer" I have to go
to "View" not "Tools" to find "Folder Options".
From "Folder Options" to "View" and select "Show All
Files" then check box in "Show hidden files and folders".
Then following the procedures, I still can not find any of
the files typed into the find window, therefore can not
find the files in "Explorer" from "My Computer" - "C
drive". I have also tried to the use the search in that
window from "View" - "Explorer Bar" - "Search". No such
file fxsclnt.exe found..

Please help..
George
