I have a fairly new Dell (bought it about a year ago) and
have since had trouble updating it with SP1. Each time I
do this, It downloads, goes to install and then gives me
an error saying it cannot install. Not sure why I keep
getting this messahe and would like help. Can Dell send me
an update disc with the SP on it?

There are several possible reasons for this.

We need to have the complete *verbatim* text of the error message,
exactly as it appears on the screen.

Any information about update disks available from Dell would have to
come from them. Try contacting their tech support.

Good luck

Um, no... and if it is, it is probably the because you
pirated it... hint hint... jackass

Now, if someone intelligent would like to help me with
this, I would greatly appreciate it. The software came
from Dell already installed on the computer... I have been
able to get all of the other updates fine, but SP1 is the
only one that will not update.

Thanks

Thanks Ron,

I will write down the message and update. I will also
attempt to contact Dell and find out from them what thye
might be able to offer...

Thank You - Joan

Have you called Dell Tech support? If your support contract has expired,
then what's the exact error message you are receiving as Ron suggested that
you tell us?

have you been running xp-antispy? it's know to cause probs with sp1 (the
install). if you are using it, run it and reset the 2 values regarding WPA
to defualt (they're at the bottom).

hope this helps
