Hello – I have a big problem with the Add/Remove facility in Control Panel.
I have loads of applications that I can’t uninstall – almost every time I try
I get the Wise Uninstall dialog box appearing with the declaration: ‘Could
not open INSTALL.LOG file.’ Can someone tell me how I can re-install
INSTALL.LOG file – I am not sure how I lost it in the first place. Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen

You'll need re-install each program that you see the error message for, then
uninstall them. The files for those programs haven't been deleted via
Windows Explorer or the command prompt, have they?

I have the same problem as Karen and downloaded the Windows Install Clean
up, you suggested, but it doesn't show the program I need to remove,
Divakartandon. I suspect that the Ad-aware SE personal prog some one
installed for me to protect against spy-ware is causing the 'could not
install log file' but I can't uninstall the program to check that!

Please advise.

i was trying to uninstall yahoo messenger but my computer prompts with COULD
NOT FIND INSTALL.LOG FILE? Please help...

i have tried to follow that link Windows Install Clean
up as suggested, but it doesn't show the program I need to remove, which is
the yahoo messenger...any other options?

thanks for ur reply david. i wish u could help me more. i tried to reinstall
it but an error prompt said COULD NOT LOAD THE DLL LIBRARY. THE SPECIFIED
MODULE COULD NOT BE FOUND...i appreciate ur help on this.

the program is yahoo messenger and i have been using it for awhile but it has
been causing errors so i wanna reinstall it again. i tried doin that by goin
to the main page of yahoo and install messenger but an error occured that it
could not load the dll library..any idea?

Hi,
I am having a simillar problem...i wish to get rid of Aol double click..this
is only a prog to be installed, but when i went to delete, it told me i would
have to do it in the control panel/add-remove..when i looked it was not there.
i believe it is because it is not installed so only the short-cut was
deleted...why did it tell me to go to the control panel?

No I don't believe i did...What is it!!
Will this stop me from uninstalling or is it an aid?

thanks
niks

Hi Bikersam,

Did you install Netscape? Lots of times, Netscape or AIM Instant
Messenger program, puts a link on the Desktop to install America Online. But
it is not a program that has been installed. It is a reference to files to
install America Online.

Use Explore and browse to C:\Program Files\AOD or C:\Program
Files\America Online\AOD and delete the folder, then empty the Recycle Bin.

hiya..
did search manually..found it under prog.files but in on-line services...cos
i did'nt know where Explore and browse is..is that the 'search option?'

anyways all done now..i hope!!
thanks!

So, sorry to post this as a "reply," but I couldn't figure out any other way
to post. My problem is that I'm trying to uninstall a copy of Symantec
antivirus software. As I start the process, a dialogue box asks me for the
"uninstall password.'' I don't remember ever setting a password and I don't
think I did. Any tips?
Thanks,
Mike
