Hi,
Background :
Router - dlink dsl604+
Connections into router - adsl rj11 cable
Connections out of router - ethernet to laptop
Laptop OS - xp
What works :
1) The router can connect to my ISP using ppp & chap. It shows a
different IP and gateway for the ISP everytime I connect.
2) My laptop can ping the router
3) My laptop can access the routers web config page
4) My laptop can ping itself
5) My laptop can ping the ip address returned from the ISP
What doesn't work :
1) laptop cannot ping the gateway returned from the isp
2) laptop cannot ping www.yahoo.com
3) laptop shows Internet Gateway in "network connections" - but it is
always disconnected - whenever I click it it just says connection
failed (NOTE - if I monitor the lan connection the bytes sent/received
jumps when I do this - so it clearly is trying to go through the
router for the connection.
4) If I turn off dial up in ie - it just says page not available
offline/page not found for any page I try to goto (other than web
config for router
Any advice ?
Cheers,
Karl
