Can't send Yahoo email via Outlook 2003

Hi, for some reason my outgoing Yahoo email has not been going out. This
just started in the last week. I installed Office 2003 about 10 days ago
and
the Yahoo acct was working fine.

I do have the outgoing server set correctly according to the support page
on
Yahoo (http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-05.html)-- "My outgoing
server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked.

Anyone have any ideas?

It has been reported that, in some instances, Yahoo has been changing the
SMTP post on which it listens. Perhaps that is the case with you. You can
test it. Open a command prompt windows and type

telnet smtp.yahoo.com 25

(where "smtp.yahoo.com" if, of course, the SMTP server you're supposed to
use. It may not be named "smtp.yahoo.com" literally). You should see
something like this:

Trying... Connected to SMTP-SBC-V1.MAIL.VIP.SC5.YAHOO.COM.

220 smtp804.mail.sc5.yahoo.com ESMTP

If you do, then the port hasn't changed. If, however, you get a timeout or
an access denied type of message, then you know they've changed the port.
Try port 587 in that case. The Yahoo server I tested this with accepted
connections on both ports 25 and 587.
