That the message says "Authentication Required."
suggests an error in your account set up.
Go to Tools > Accounts > your email > Properties > Servers >
tick the box "My server requires authentication".

While you are there it might be worth while
clicking the "settings" tab and having a look.
Using the same settings as incoming mail server
is probably the best bet..

What do you mean by 'deleted Norton'?
Was it installed and you removed it?

Uh-oh...

I didn't say change the settings.

Go to Tools > Accounts > your email > Properties > Servers > Settings
select the "Use same settings..." option.

Why not just add "Web Mail" to your default programs and set it as default?
Forget the POP3 approach. If you want Web Mail just install Yahoo Messenger
8.1, it adds Web Mail to the default programs list, set as default, then
delete Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Toolbar if you wish.

What you say is true for free US-based accounts, but most
other countries have free POP access to Yahoo mail.
