The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication must be checked.

When I get this it's usually when I am sending to multiple e-mails, and the
one mentioned in the error message is bad. When I delete it from the e-mail
to list, it sends the message to the others OK.

I have put this error up before, with no luck to finding an answer for my

That email address appears to be incorrect... why don't you call them?

I seem to recall I responded to this same question once before.
You have an illegal character at the end of that recipient's address,
"(e-mail address removed);"
Remove the semicolon.
