cant send mail

I called my ISP and they helped get my mail set up on my new computer. They
helped me get everything set up and i can receive emails now but not send
them. They werent sure how to fix the problem and told me to call back later.
I have disabled my Norton
Here is my error message

The host 'smtp1.sympatico,ca' could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'hello', Account: 'pophm.sympatico.ca', Server:
'smtp1.sympatico,ca', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Disabling Norton does not help. It has to be uninstalled. Avast! 4
(www.avast.com) is free for home users. Do a custom install and don't
install email scanning.

Sorry...i actually unistalled Norton but wrote disabled by mistake. Any idea
what the problem may be?

Try changing the comma on the server name to a period.

They were written for Outlook Express, but should work under
Windows Mail also.

For some problems caused by Norton antivirus programs, disabling
Norton is not enough - you have to uninstall it.

Try changing the smtp1.sympatico,ca to smtp1.sympatico.ca (notice the comma
to period)

Thank you!....i did change the comma to a period...i can now send mail from my
main address but not from my other address....i checked all the server
settings and am still getting this error. What am i doing wrong :(

Port 25 and SSL seldom go together. Try turning off SSL by clicking Tools,
then Accounts, then other your email account, then Properties, then
Advanced,
then clicking in the box under Outgoing mail (SMTP) and to the left of
This server requires a secure connection (SSL), then Apply, then OK, then
Close. If this doesn't work, repeat this to turn it back on.

There doesn't seem to be a machine called smtp.sympatico.ca. There is one
called smtp1.sympatico.ca, so try adding a 1 to the name.

I am having the same problem. PLEASE somebody help!!! I called my isp and
they checked everything and told me my server is working fine. They said to
call Microsoft who told me to call Acer, where I got my computer. They told
me it is a software problem call another #. and so on just endless #'s to
call but no solutions!!!
The error message I get is:

I do not what to do. It is bad enough I am a computer dummy!!! I know simple
things but haven't a clue what to do about this! Please if anyone know what
I can do or how to fix this. I would SO APPRECIATE IT!!

'SMTP' is not a valid server name.

Also, if you want to use Yahoo.com under Windows Mail, you need to pay
extra for your Yahoo account:

If you'd rather use some other email provider, such as your internet
provider, you need to ask them for their instructions for setting up
to use their email servers. If they haven't written instructions for
Windows Mail yet, using their instructions for Outlook Express
but under Windows Mail instead usually works. The instructions
are probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you could tell us
who your email provider is and see if anyone here already knows
where to find the instructions.

The server name is wrong!
If their tech tells you it's correct ask to speak with his supervisor. They
should have a webpage with instructions. Tell us who your ISP is and we'll
try to find out for you.

If your email address is indeed Yahoo you'll need to have a paid account in
the US or Canada and follow these instructions:
