Can't Send Large Attachments Using POP Mail

PROBLEM: I can’t send any attachment larger than about 150KB using Yahoo POP mail – but I can receive attachments fine. Why?

The error message I get is that the SMTP server has timed out. I can receive attachments and receive/send e-mail with no problems.

OS: Windows XP Pro with two administrator account
Software: MS Outlook 200
ISP: DSL via T-Online in German

I have tried about every possible solution I can think of
- The problem is apparently OS related: 4 hours on Yahoo tech support says that it is fine from there end; they have tested attachments and that it must be XP relate
- I have reset to using only T-Online’s SMTP to send attachments, but, again, no luck
- I have continuously deleted all cookies, etc., recreated the e-mail account, etc

Any Ideas

Couple of thoughts....

1) Windows XP has a race condition when trying to scan outbound SMTP mail.
Try disabling any programs that scan/work with outbound mail. (Your Outlook
account settings would have been changed to localhost for the mail server
names.)

2) Try adjusting your MTU size. Depending on your provider, this might go
as low as 1400.

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.
