Hi I downloaded new window updates and now can't send emails can someone help
please?? This is the error message.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject '',
Account: 'pop.east.cox.net (1)', Server: 'smtp.east.cox.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> relaying not
allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

It means you were trying to send from a connection other than Cox.
Were you on a laptop away from home?

As a general rule, the provider of the SMTP server must match the
provider of the Internet connection.

The available workarounds when sending away from home are:

1. Use webmail for sending (via your browser).
2. Ask your home ISP if they have a port other than '25' for SMTP. I don't think
Cox does. Cable companies are very bad about accommodating travelers.
3. Substitute the SMTP server belonging to your away-from-home connection.
4. If you frequently send from multiple locations, get a free Gmail account,
configure it for POP access, and use it for your sending chores.
Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked like port 25 is.
