Can't see Linksys Router

System: MS XP Home Edition. Intergrated SIS 900 Based PCI
Fast Ethernet Adapter on HP Pavilion 552W. Network:
ADSL Modem>>Linksys BEFSR41>>Linksys WRT54G
|
|
10Mb Hub

Added the Wireless hub and removed the hub. Plugged my XP
system directly into either router and the system says the
cable is unplugged. Go back to the hub and it sees and
works fine. All other machines running 95, 98se see the
routers fine.
What's up with the Linksys to XP handshake? Why can't it
see the cable is connected.

Dumb question... did you plug wire into the right port for a cable?
(One plub dedicated for connecting to another router).

Interesting...I've been having the same problem, and I can also see the other machine/share files when I put a hub in front of the Linksys. I believe there must be a switch on the router which is protecting each machine from seeing the other as if they are on opposite sides of the router. Both machines have internet connectivity, and Machine A can be seen from the machine B, but not vice versa. Additionally, neither the connected machine nor the router can ping machine A. I've also run the network setup wizard, turned of ICF, set the Local Policy as instructed by a prior suggestion, and given both machines identical as well as different user id's and passwords. We need to be looking for something on the router is my opinion.

I finally found something that fixed a problem that
sounded like this.

In control panel/administrative tools is a link
for "services." In the services window, I found
under "DHCP client" that DHCP client was not running.
Under the 'log on' tab I selected Profile 1 and then under
the 'general' tab I started the service. That seemed to
fix it.

Good luck,
Jeff
