Can't save excel "document not saved" message, how?

Working on an 4mb excel file for almost an hour then when we tried to save it
prompts the message "Document not saved". There is still 15mb available space
on the hard drive. Even if we saveas to a different file name it prompts the
same. Autosave was set to 2 minutes but now that option is grayed, can't
change. How can we capture those work done?

You know, I get that a lot too.
I bet someone out here has an explanation and a resulution too.but what I do
when that happens is copy the whole workbook - sheet by sheet into a new
workbook ( Book1) then save that and rename it, check to see if all
transfered over well and just say Ciao to the old one....

What version of Office and What Office SP if any installed? I started
getting this error a couple weeks ago after installing the just released SP2
for Office 2003. It started happening on an 8 Meg shared file we have been
sharing for a couple years. Even after reducing the size to just over 4 Meg
it refuses save properly when it is shared. This AM it just refuesed to save
even when sharing was turned off.

Curious to see if Office 2003 SP2 is the common link.

I'm still running the '97
( don't know if the company will ever upgrade....)
But it allows me to do all the necessary things the company needs, plus
some fun stuff.

Thanks, Additional tests and info for anyone interested in the issue; I
tested this issue at home using one of the TabletPCs that fails at work on on
my peer-to-peer network at home with my personal laptop. This eliminated
Novell and the Windows 2003 server from the issue. Novell, which is used at
work, is not installed on TabletPC I use at work. Under those conditions, the
file saving of a shared excel worksheet did not not fail. While this doesn't
really help my issue at work, it does seem to indicate some part of the
office network is causing the failure. The saved file in located on a Windows
2003 Server but the overall network is controlled by Novell 5 Servers and
Netware 4.90 SP2 clients. I suspect that there is some incompatability
between the Novell and Windows 2003 Server's Active Directory. There is a new
netware client for Novell 5 ( Netware Client 4.91) which I haven't tried.
