"File not saved" excel message box

I use excel 2007. A file on company network drive no longer seems to save
changes. I get the message "file not saved".
The only way to save changes is to save it on my hard-drive.
When I try and re-save back to network drive , get the same message again.

File is too big to create again from scratch. Tried copying tabs into new
workbook buut get same problem when trying to save the new book.

Please any help.

This normally happens if the network drops whilst you have the file open.
If you can save it locally do so. then close and reopen Excel open it
and save to the network. if you can't do that then check the file path
is not too long (approx 255 chars).
