Can't run .msc files

Whenever I try to run msconfig.msc, or any of the
utilities with the .msc extension win XP goes stupid on
me. Says it doesn't recognise this file type offers to
search the web or let me locate the correct program to
run these files.
I haven't found a way to open these files on the web, or
in windows, reloading windows is no help.

Don't add the extension - just run msconfig
