Please Help Run without *.ext

Good day,

I'm trying to run mmc snapins from the Start | Run box without typing
their extensions. For example I would like to run gpedit.msc by only
typing gpedit. I have ensured that all these snapins are located in a
directory that is listed in the Path environment variable. I have also
added *.msc to my PathExt environment variable. I am now able to open
gpedit from cmd.exe by typing only gpedit. But when I type gpedit into
Start | Run I get the file not found error. Any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Commands typed in the Run box are not subject to %pathext%.
You could probably find a value in the registry that controls the
Run box method but you are likely to spend far more time
tracking it down than you will ever save by not having to type the
".msc" extension . . .
