CAN'T REINSTALL INTERNET EXPLORER

MSIE was corrupted by what appears to have been a virus. The folder has
been renamed "internet explorer" <lower case> and contains a couple of
blank subfolders.

Can't rename or delete the file. I managed to fool it and deleted it in
the safe mode prompt but it came back.

All attempts to reinstall MSIE 6 have failed. Most common error is that
a "newer version" of MSIE exists on my computer and the installation is
halted.

I've tried reinstalling WinXP; no help. (Interestingly, this lack of
MSIE prevents me from updating my WinXP after the reinstall...

Love ya' Bill...

Hi,

How are you trying to reinstall IE? By downloading it? Have you tried
running the ie.inf file under C:\Windows\Inf?

By the way, the folders are considered system folders, that's why they come
back, they cannot be permanently deleted.
