Can't record with MMC 8.8

Hello all, this fell on deaf ears (eyes) in the Rage3D forums, so I thought
I'd move it here as well,

Dell Dimension 8100 (1.8GHz)
768 MB RAM
ATI AIW 9800 Pro (Sapphire)
BenQ FP791 LCD
SB Audigy 2 Platinum
Windows XP Pro
CAT 4.1
MMC 8.8
....

Okay, here's the problem.

After a fresh install of all things ATI, I can run the TV application and
record TV to my hard disk. The problem is that the default location is my C
drive, which is full. I have partitioned my main drive and have about 20 GB
free on my D drive. So, under the personal video record options, I changed
the disk space section to my D drive, told it to leave about 1 GB free, and
checked the box to always record to my temporary folder. In adition, I also
changed the folder to store recorded video to my D drive.

Now I have a problem. If I click the Pause button for TV on Demand, the
display briefly blanks, and then it falls back to live TV. It takes about 1
second. The same sequence of events occurs now if I click the manual record
button. It appears that I can no longer record any TV, either scheduled, for
a fixed time, or for live pausing purposes.

Has anyone else had this problem? Must the recording go to my C drive for
this to work? I have run the tests, and DMA is enabled for all drives. Both
my C drive and my D drive are formated for NTFS, which should allow for
recordings over 4 GB.

Any help is appreciated.

Using a TEMP file location is only necessary when the storage location is
NOT a local drive -- this is NOT your case. Maybe you need to UNcheck the
use of TEMP file locations. OR, what are the settings for your recording in
time, duratiuon and most importantly, the file quality? If you're using an
AVI you'll have little change since the format is HUGE. See if the format
has adequate time (space) TO record on your 'small' drive. (Sorry, I've got
a 150GB RAID for my storage.)

I had a problem with TVOD in that it loads the CPU extensively (95-100%)
while recording LIVE -- hit Pause for 5-6 seconds and see your CPU demand
drop to 40%

LOOK at your FASTWRITE setting on the Display Settings -- the new driver
likes UNchecked when issues crop up. AND, see your BIOS for using
SYNCHRONOUS AGP RAM read/writes (or something like this). I may not be
exactly clear on what I'm telling you, but I've done these two changes and
my AIW 9000Pro works better than it had before I changed them -- I was
getting LOTS ot ATIMMC crash notices.

Hope this helps... let me know!
