Can't reboot in normal or safe mode!!!

I am running Win XP Pro. I recently installed a game (Still Life) on my
computer and was told that I needed to reboot in order to complete the
installation. That's where the problem started. It continues to reboot
itself. I see the Windows logo and then suddenly there is a blue screen with
some numbers on it (seen very, very briefly - split second) and it begins to
reboot. I tried the various safe modes and the computer hangs with the page
full of commands. I was told by a friend to try the recovery console. I used
my Win XP Pro disk and can get to the screen to press R for the recovery.
However, the screen that is suppose to ask "Which Windows installation would
you like to log onto?" never appears. Instead it goes immediately to a C:\
not C:\WINDOWS. It never ask for an admin password. I try to type several
commands and it says "access denied". Don't know what to do at this point.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi ... Click the Start button , right-click My Computer, click Properties,
click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under ( startup and
recovery )System Failure, view the Automatically restart check box. If the
Automatically restart check box is selected, remove the check mark , click
ok , apply ,
restart the computer , This time write down the error that will be shown and
post back here
