When my computer crashed and I had to reinstall XP Pro, I lost an important feature which had been working but now isn't. My Dell is on a network in my home, I have another PC and two Macs running OS 10.3. I had the Dell set up to share an HP 3100 printer, and all my computers could print to it. Now the Macs can't.
The Macs must print to a shared printer on the PC which is actually a RedMon set up to redirect the print job to Ghostscript so Ghostscript can route the image to the real printer. This part now fails. When I print to the redmon printer locally on the Dell, it works. When I print from any remote computer, Mac or PC, it fails. The print job gets stuck in the queue with a status "Error - Printing". The error log says the actual error is "The document Remote Downlevel Document owned by Guest failed to print. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 63 (0x3f)."
My hunch is that the remote users don't have permission to run the job on the server computer, since RedMon launches Ghostview. However, I'm lost how to change the permission to allow it. In the Properties dialog of the printer, there is supposed to be a Security tab that lets me assign permissions. There is no security tab.
Any help?
